Sabu and Ichi’s Detective Tales (1968) – Episode 20

Over the course of a lifetime, Ichi has killed and injured a lot of people with his sword-cane (although the “They were all bad” defense from True Lies actually does apply in his case). Now someone wants to avenge one of those deaths, and in defending himself Ichi ends up blinding his would be assassin…

    Ah, I do so love the Sabu and Ichi episodes that have some parallel with the events of one of the manga’s chapters, but ultimately have their differences/diverge entirely. In this case, very reminiscent of the chapter where Ichi feels guilty, and ends up dueling a fellow blind swordsman. As for this episode’s ending… Justice sure is blind, huh?
