Tetsuwan Atom (1959 live-action) – Ep 01-02 (1963 anime) – Ep 01-02

vlcsnap-2015-08-01-17h49m35s315Today I have a special treat for fans of “Manga no Kami-sama”, Osamu Tezuka. Mighty Atom is one of his most famous characters, and Nanto’s got him for you, in both live action and animated flavors. I’ve made a few revisions to the first episode of the live-action version, so I’d suggest downloading it again.

Special thanks to F-Man for helping with the live-action, and Kyle D. for helping with the anime!

Thanks, but what about the status of Patlabor TNG?
It’s 6 months since you released the first 2 episodes.

We are still making progress on episode 2, slowly but surely. Patlabor TNG is not an easy show to subtitle, since the episodes are twice as long as the shows we usually work on, and jam-packed with dialogue. Great show though, lots of fun to subtitle even though it is very hard work.

There is a link-error to the Nyaa link on the live action – it currently sends you to a error page. I found it by manually going to Nyaa and DLing it, but it’s dropping down the list quickly, so for ease of your fans finding this in the future, you might want to fix this.

That’s odd. I clicked on the link for the live-action just now, and it took me right to the correct Nyaa page.

Well, I just tried it again, and on a different computer than the first one, and the same thing came up on both the LA and anime links – remember, if you’re trying on the computer that you set up the post on in the first place, your system might be going to the link via a history memory (IE; cookie). If you can, you might want to try the same attempt on a computer you haven’t tried linking up to before. OR, it could be my Comcast guys being silly little yo-yos again. Mind you, to check on this problem on other posts, I checked my links on the previous post as well (Starzinger), and got a good response (I DL that one via the original Nyaa post, and not here on TSHS, so it had not been affected by any cookie).

Wow, the anime too? Amazing! Thank you! So much!

Did you know that episode 1 (and three others such as #20 and #193 and I forgot which) were subtitled in the DVD boxset? I’m just hoping you didn’t overwork yourself too much over this.

I was hoping to give you a nice surprise with that, since you’ve been very patient about how freaking slow I am in getting these episodes completed and released.

Yeah, I actually do own the box sets. I paid no small amount of money for disc after disc of hideously dubbed crap that is of no value whatsoever to me, just to get the handful of subtitled episodes, and the subtitled “cut scenes.”

Umm, my very first anime – though, I saw them FIRST RUN… yay NBC Enterprises.

        Gawd I’m old…

Da North: Wow, and I thought I was old! My earliest experience with anime was watching reruns of Prince Planet and Speed Racer (as well as toku shows like Spectreman and Giant Robo) on independent UHF stations in the mid 1970s, so you’ve got me beat by a full decade.
Did you watch other anime in the 1960s like Kimba, 8th Man, Amazing 3, etc.? The first I heard about those shows was from reading an article in Starlog magazine by Fred Patten, which gave basic plot and character breakdowns for all of the dubbed anime shows that had aired in the US by that point.

I do plan on continuing to subtitle the live action, although it does take me a while. I’d at least like to finish up the ZZZ Gang episodes eventually, and possibly more after that.

A scene from your sub when Astro Boy was sold to the circus was used in a Death Battle against Mega Man.

Could you please not hardcode subs in? Softsubs are just as easy to embed and non-destructive. Thanks!
